Show AWARDS To the Awards Committee the varied activities of W. C. are prosaic columns of honor points. Even the sweat and blood of scholastic ratings are deadened into insensate decimals. Some members come out of meetings slightly nauseated by self-touted talent. A few of medals at the committee's disposal manage to get diverted to home consumption. ASSEMBLY The Assembly Committee has the dubious honor of being allowed to see all assemblies twice. Despite the general tone of Friday-fare, it is still maintained that rehearsals are attempted by a few of the well- organized groups. The only immutable assembly characteristic was Mr. Young's period of short announcements. Top: Mr. Buss, Carolyn Smith, Loyal Christenson, Mr. Espy, Beverly Jurgens, Earl Tanner, Miss Peterson, Arlene Jenson, Miss Grandy, Kent Baggs. Above: Emmett Wiggins, Mr. Young, Don Buswell, Camille Larson, Marjorie Vowles, Mr. Childs. ACTIVITIES Only groups desiring to sponsor outings, candy sales, and dances are aware of the smooth machinations of this committee. Most of their work is done soon after school commences. Only a few unwanted slots are there- by left to be filled in the irregular meetings during the rest of the year. Above: Mr. Gray. Emma Martin, Mrs. Hall, Ethel Hogge, Mr. Baddley. Betty Smalley, Winslow Gardner. Top: Dan Drumiler, Betty Smalley, Darold Burt. Alice Kapple, Sue, Boyle. Kay Crockett. Katherine Woolley, Dick Skeen, Grant Neuteboom. Bottom: Gloria Hall, Lorraine Ritchie. Clara Gilman, Elizabeth Blair, LaVon Earl, Lew Austad. DANCE COMMITTEE These frustrated artists achieve release in creating the garish and gaudy trappings for occasional student body dances. Camouflaging corners that can serve for a multiplicity of purposes is the apex of their ambition. Squatters' rights gives them free access to the Terpsichorean debaucheries to which they are dedicated. MATINEE DANCE As regularly as Thursday came around, fifteen loyal students, the president of the sponsoring club, and the disk- flipper cavorted with the forced gayety typical of the post- depression era. The odd man hiked across the intervening spaces to keep the pairings from becoming permanent. Top. Front Row: Dawna Shewell. Ruth Carver, Elizabeth Blair. Louise Dixon, Rosella Larkin, Marian Feit, Catherine Taylor, Clara Oilman, LauRene Thompson. Second Row: Berniece McEntire, Dorothy Meyers. Bernice Perrins, Mrs. Hall, Rosemary Pickens. COUNCIL The members of Associated Women Students' Council illustrate in their conduct the impact of Dorothy Dix on the college girl. They guide the course of Associated Women Students affairs, concentrating on the reclamation of unaffiliated coeds. In their odd moments they dissipate at teas. W. A. A. COUNCIL The Women's Athletic Association presides over the physical education of Weber's muscle-molls. In these modern times, the girls can never tell when a little athletic prowess may come in handy. Exercise is also used as a substitute for starvation diets and removes the necessity of declining a malt on the boy friend. |
