Another popular attraction was the variety show with alumni as participants. During the year, the Alumni Association endeavored to better coordinate activities between students and former students, bring about a feeling of unity between the two groups. President of the association was Dr. Don Buswell. r. o. t. c. members join leadership classes Weekly, the members of the Reserve Officers Training Corps traveled to the University of Utah for a leadership lab designed to develop confidence and ability in all future army officers. Classroom instruction consisted of methods of teaching, psychology of leadership, a study of branches of the army, fundamentals of communications, and advanced military tactics. Additionally, the group participated in dinner-dances held at Fort Douglas, and the annual military ball held in the rotunda of the state capitol. R.O.T.C. The delegates of Weber's International Relations Club attended the Far Western Convention of the Model United Nations in San Francisco. Representing the small African nation of Gabon, these delegates acted in accordance with past records and ideology of that nation, debating and voting as the Gabonese probably would. In January the International Relations Week was climaxed by a huge banquet attended by over 150 people and honored by the presence of Governor Calvin Rampton, President William P. Miller, and the Australian minister to the United States. The club also co-sponsored the Viet Nam contribution drive.
