The annual introduction to the college began with the issuing of freshman name badges for easy identification. Campus directions to the newly constructed buildings, a Howdy Hootenany, and Kangaroo Court wound up the week's activities. Weber State's people were ready to begin another year. President William P. Miller welcomes the students (more than 5500) at the president's assembly. w.s.c. counts 100,000 alumni: homecoming celebrated Features of the homecoming parade are antique cars with Dr. Don Buswell, Alumni President; Karen Lofgreen, board member; and coaches Sark Arslanian and Tom Rammage. As Weber State students and alumni celebrated the homecoming activities, President Miller announced that the alumni of the college had grown beyond the 100,000 mark. The festive week included a concert by the Utah Symphony Orchestra, a union movie, an audubon lecture, class reunions, library open house, and a visit from the United States Air Force Band. Other events included the annual parade which featured floats, bands, and marching units. The week was climaxed with a victorious football game and the homecoming dance. Arts and Crafts Committee members prepare the royalty float for the homecoming parade. The alumni entry, announcing the theme of homecoming week, is decorated in gold and purple. |
