Show Because of the rapid advancement in science, high speed production and automation, there is a critical shortage of skilled and technically trained manpower in business and industry. The Trade-Tech School seeks to assist young men and women in becoming useful and successful citizens in our technological society. To accomplish this, the school is organized into the departments of automotive engineering, data processing, electronic engineering, manufacturing engineering, and the institute of trade-technical education. Dean Esplin If you've ever pondered over the meaning of the tiny rectangular holes in your registration cards, data processing is the place to find out what they mean. In Introduction to Data Processing, you will hear about the Holerith coding (which is what we use on most of the college cards), among many other methods which have been devised for use in computers. The Data Processing Department gives a two year and four year degree which helps prepare students for futures in computer programming, computer operation, systems analyzing, and allied fields. Out of the 800 students enrolled in these classes, many are already employed, looking to the future for a better job with their added understanding of the com-puter fields. Teachers from the area schools show great interest in special courses offered to them in this area, as do the many Weber State faculty members who sit in on the data processing classes given in both day and night school. |
