Show Santa leads the faculty in song. Top row: W. Harold Handley, Treasurer; Dr. Lida Haggerty, Education; Sheldon Hayes, Bacteriology; Guy Hurst, Head of Business Department. Second row: Gale Huskinson, Dietician; Sarah Jackson, Secretary; Ralph Jensen, Psychology; Clair Johnson, Music. Resorting to playful pastimes, the faculty enjoyed a genuine Christmas party, composed of games, refresh-ments, and gifts from Santa. Miss Browning, librarian, dressed as the jolly old fellow, made a most graceful characterization, and provided the party with a merry air long to be remembered. The faculty also played basketball. A few pounds may have been taken off, along with a few years, when the faculty played the students in the basketball tournament. Nevertheless, the professional instructors gave the youngsters a good work out, and both teams came out with a better understanding of one another. Top row: Kathleen Jones, Secretary; Edward Larsen, Metals; Henry Leavitt, Electricity; Earl Lee, Machines; Garnett Littlefield, Engineering; Ferron Losee, Physical Education; Helen Manwaring, Attendance. Second row: Ira Markham, Business; James McCormac, Machines; Amelia Miller, Nursing; Dr. Ernest Miner, Botany; Leland H. Monson, Head of English Department; Ruth Morrison, Nursing; Walter Neville, Sociology. Third row: Glenn Nielson, Ordnance; Cluster Nilsson, Engish; Charles Osmond, Physics; Roland Parry, Head of Music Department; Dean Peterson, Book Store; Lorenzo Peterson, Carpentry; Mary Peterson, Business. Students, monotonously passing from class to class, sleeping through lectures, avoiding recitation, dreading exams, seldom realize how human the faculty members actually are. However, much hidden talent was divulged upon the presentation of the faculty assembly. Donning a skirt and blouse, and a wig of golden curls, Orlo Childs presented an accomplished impersonation of one of Itha Russell's notorious song hits. This was followed by a production of the "Taming of the Shrew," Dean Hall acting as the Shrew, a dramatic reading by Doctor O. W. Young in overalls, and various side splitting exhibitions of entertainment. The assembly was climaxed by the presentation of a Negro spiritual, numerous faculty members participating in the chorus. Mr. Nilsson skillfully directed the proceedings. |
