It takes all kinds to make a college faculty. With instructors all the way from dry wits comparable to Mark Twain to those who "don't get it," a student's jokes run the gamut. The long and short of the situation walk daily through the halls. We see dark heads of hair, light heads of hair, the straight, the curly, even the sparse which comb best with a towel. There are those who delight in weekly quizzes and those who store up teasing questions for final examinations of staggering proportions. But the cement that unites Weber faculty members and the student body in the spirit of intelligent instruction, never-failing cooperation, and unlimited time and effort spent in production provides the best wearing qualities. First row: Dr. William Z. Terry, Mathematics; Wayne Thompson, Machines; Wendell J. Thomson, M.D., Physician; Richard Vandenberg, Vocational; Mae Welling, Physical Education. Second row: Ray B. West, Jr., English; Clarence Wilson, Business; LaPriel Winterton, Secretary; Dr. A. D. Woodruff, Religion; Dr. Orson Young, Zoology. Clearing the decks for action, the faculty members with calm adaptability soon had the war situation in its place. First Aid classes were atended by all instructors; and while the ladies knitted, the gentlemen pol-ished rifles and enlisted with the Home Guard Defense. New teachers in the vocational department swelled the ranks of Weber's educators. Under their direction, the vocational building literally supplied twenty-four hour service, turning out engineers, and mechanics. Business students by the score were equipped with stable knowledge to defend Uncle Sam. The Faculty Listens |
