Show For three short months Weber's affairs ticked off as scheduled under Jack Larsen's direction. Then the army claimed a priority on Jack, and to its departing soldier-prexy W. C. sang heartily, "We'll all feel gay when Jackie comes marching home." Winter quarter witnessed the selection of experienced McEntire to take over Jack's office. Widely known for his efforts as orator, thespian, and wit, Mac sharpened his skills on the assembly microphone. Although keeping his fingers in many pies, he seemed always to pull out a plum for Weber. Jack Larsen Rex McEntire Charming LaVon, dextrous Danny, and smiling Sophie govern Weber. Student body officers Trying times tested the mettle of LaVon Earl and Dan Drumiler. Handicapped by the absence of a secretary, they worked overtime helping Jack keep student body affairs moving. Just as they welcomed Sophie Reed as the new officer, Jack answered the call of the army, thereby starting a vogue for leaving school to speed Uncle Sam's defense efforts. Not content to be noted only as officers, these three carved niches in Fame's Hall with additional activities. By right of owning a twinkling smile and a gracious manner, LaVon was awarded the title of "Friendliest Girl on the Campus." Danny proved the point about great oaks and little acorns by capturing the office of "King Oak," which provided him with six charming princesses. The third member of this talented trio, petite Sophie, enlivened several assemblies and the Varsity Show with her sprightly dancing and contagious smile. |
