Show Signpost As Weber's All-American newspaper entered its fifth year of publication, Editor Ed Anderson and staff members set their aim to make the Sign post a sample of real American journalism in its class and to keep the students of Weber College posted concerning interesting events on and off the campus. Business manager Marjorie Vowles filled her allotted space in each issue of Signpost with the advertising spoils of her downtown escapades. Humor in the form of campus jokes, letters concerning a multitude of subjects to and from the editor, and cartoons were found in all the sixteen issues of the paper. Morale of the staff was boosted by their trip to the N.S.P.A. convention at Boulder. Front Row: Opal Rogerson, Avon DeVree, Lesbeth Lucas, Jean Ann Waterstradt, Dorothy Cardon. Back Row: Wallace Pingree, Emmett Wiggins, David Meyers, Bob Blakeley, Keith Holbrook. Cluster Nilsson, Adviser Marjorie Vowles, Business Manager Ed Anderson, Editor Although there was a frequent turnover in the staff, the managing ability of the editor made it possible for the paper to meet the deadlines. Some of the articles were written by members of the journalism class, a few items were contributed by members of the student body at large, while the remainder of the paper, which constituted the largest part, was items written by the staff, or the editor. Said staff members insist that all editors are "goats," and that Adviser Nilsson is the only one who seems to remember that deadlines have to be met. |
