Show Cast Front Row: Bill Collins, Helen Grix, Doris Owens, Rex McEntire, Mary Lou Foutz. Back Row: Ruth Mary Jones, Carl White, Rolande Ballantyne. "Night must fall" Bellboy Rex (Dan) McEntire has far-reaching effect on the Ruth Mary (Mrs. Bramson) Jones' household which includes the maid, Mary Lou (Dora Parkoe) Foutz; the niece, Doris (Olivia) Owens; the nurse, Helen (Libby) Grix; friend-of-the-family, Bill (Hubert Laurie) Collins; and the cook, Rolande (Terrence) Ballantyne. Inspector Carl (Belsize) White appears at curtain fall to bring law and order to "Night Must Fall." Emlyn Williams' psychological thriller "Night Must Fall," carried shivering, May 7, 8, and 9, Weber play-goers behind the scenes into the mind of a cold-blooded, coolly calculating murderer. Bellboy in a remote hotel in Essex, England, Dan plays Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde through three thrilling acts. The un-bounding good humor and naivete he portrays dim such escapades as seducing Dora Parkoe, the maid, murdering a hotel guest, and planning to kill for her money his benefactress, Mrs. Bramson, in the eyes of his friends. Olivia, the subdued niece of Mrs. Bramson, attempting to shield him, is left disconsolate when strong but inconspicious inspector Belsize takes Dan on a one way trip to the gallows. Cook Libby from the north country, Cockney Nurse Terrence, and pompous Hubert Laurie hold varied parts in Dan's plans. The cast, under the direction of Mr. Thatcher Allred, head of the Weber speech department, trod the boards in near Broadway style. A moment of relaxation Proves hit "And they won't be paid for if I have to go to the law about it." |
