CLEP Credit - All students are eligible to take the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) battery which, if passed satisfactorily, may satisfy most of the general area requirements. (See CLEP under Testing.) 3. Transfer Credit - Students who have completed all general education requirements for a bachelor's degree at another institution in the Utah System of Higher Education prior to transferring to Weber State will not be required to meet the above requirements, with the exception of the State requirements in American history, government, and economics; and the Math Competency requirement. Students who have not met the previous school's requirements must meet the general education requirements at Weber State. This agreement includes all Utah system institutions. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSOCIATE DEGREES An Associate of Arts or Science degree is designed to meet the needs of students interested in a general course of study which can be completed in approximately two years. An Associate degree can be used to prepare persons for employment in positions which call for two years of college or a general associate degree. Some students will elect to obtain an associate degree to assure that their General Education courses are completed for a future Bachelor's degree. The Associate degree must be completed and received at least a year prior to qualifying for a Bachelor's degree, as the Bachelor's degree supersedes the Associate degree and they cannot be awarded simultaneously. Associate of Arts and Associate of Science A candidate for graduation with an associate degree must complete a minimum of 93 credit hours. Students must include in the 93 credits the "WSU Core Requirements", including English and Math competency requirements, and the same General Education requirements that are outlined for the bachelor degree. The associate degree candidate is exempt from satisfying the state requirement in American History, Government, and Economics. There is a foreign language requirement for the Associate of Arts degree that a candidate for this degree satisfies upon the successful completion of one of the following options: (1) The candidate passes WSU foreign language course 103 with a minimum grade of "C+" or passes a WSU foreign language course at a higher proficiency level with a minimum grade of "C." (2) The candidate documents a proficiency level of "Novice High" through an examination administered by the WSU Foreign Language Student Services Interdisc.
