Show Tuition and Student Fees Music Fees A fee will be charged to each student taking a private instruction class for credit. This fee must be paid at the time of registration. Non-Credit Courses and Workshops Charges for non-credit classes, workshops, etc., are established by Weber State and will be announced with the course offerings. Processing Fees There are several fees charged for processing students records or making transactions to them, they include: Application for Admission Graduation Fee Recording Fee for Special Cases (each transaction) Transcript of Credit (Charged quarterly as part of student fees) Refunds Tuition and student fees will be refunded according to the published refund policy found in each quarterly class schedule. Refund schedules are set by the State Board of Regents. Remediation Fees Students requiring remediation will be charged an additional fee at the time of registration. (See "Admissions" section.) Remote Student Teaching Fee Students requesting placement for student teaching out of the Weber State service area are assessed a special fee for supervision. Rentals and Deposits Rentals and/or deposits are required on certain items and must be paid to the cashier. The following items are necessary to rent or require a deposit: Chemistry Lab Breakage Deposit* Key Deposit* Gymnasium Locker Lock Deposit* Art Building Locker Key Deposit* Wardrobe Locker Musical Instrument Locker Music Practice Room Piano/Organ *In order to obtain deposit refund from Cashier, student must return the key or lock to the department and obtain clearance from the department. No refund on any deposit made during the school year will be made after June 30. Student Development Fee Students whose skills in English and math fall below predetermined levels are assessed a Student Development fee each quarter. They are exempt from the fee when they have reached English and Math proficiency and have completed at least 30 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better. (See Admissions: Freshmen Applicants.) Teaching Fee Education majors will be assessed an additional fee during the quarter in which they are registered for their student teaching experience. Test Fees* Fees are charged for various tests administered on campus in accordance with a schedule to be approved each year. The fees may change from time to time during the year. Inquiries should be made at the Testing Center in the Stewart Library, Room 45. Dishonored Checks—A student whose check is dishonored by the bank shall be charged for dishonored check processing and may be suspended from school until such time as the check is redeemed. ^Consult the quarterly class schedules for fee amounts as they may vary from quarter to quarter. Student Services General Information The departments and programs in Student Services provide services which assist students in meeting their psychological, sociological and academic needs. An over-all goal of Student Services is a commitment to solving student problems and in helping students become aware of services, activities and programs available to them. The personnel in Student Services will assist in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating programs to expand the students' personal development and enrich co-curricular opportunities. 32 ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT CENTER Director: Julianna Arbuckle Location: Building 1, Room 145 Telephone: 626-6752 The Academic Advisement Center has been established to assist all students at Weber State to achieve academic success. The Advisement Center helps students to plan their college careers and understand Weber State graduation requirements. This advisement includes the General Education program, policies and procedures of Weber State, information regarding admissions, registration and graduation, referrals to academic departments for advisement in majors, referrals to appropriate campus and local support services, and additional assistance and advisement to students on academic probation and suspension. Advisement is designed to prepare students to achieve academically by establishing a sense of direction and purpose. This is accomplished through the offering of a new-student orientation, a "Becoming a Master Student - College Survival" extended orientation class (Child and Family Studies 190), other seminars and workshops, and the administration of investigative inventories and surveys. ASSOCIATED STUDENTS Location: Shepherd Union, Room 241 Telephone: 626-6349 - Activity Office The Associated Students of Weber State University (ASWSU) is the student voice to the administration and serves the students both on and off campus. The ASWSU provides students a variety of activities ranging from lectures to dances. The ASWSU provides the opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills and to impact the campus environment by service either as an elected officer or by appointment. Elected student officers include the student body president, two vice presidents and sixteen senators who represent academic and special student constituencies. ASWSU appointed committees and groups include the Supreme Court, the Senate Area Council, the Campus Activities Board (CAB), Volunteer Involvement Programs (VIP), the Academic Board, Elections, Publicity, the Association of Registered Organizations (ARO), Open Hour, Convocations, etc. Every student becomes a member of ASWSU upon the completion of registration and payment of student fees. Students must obtain a student identification card to use for admittance to athletic events, the use of the Health and Physical Education facility, for checking books out of the library and many other benefits. Family cards for students supporting dependents are also available. The benefits are similar to those of the regular student ID card. Farrell Shepherd Union and Student Activities sections) Campus Recreation provides each student, faculty, and staff member the opportunity to become actively involved in a sports and recreation program. It is recognized as one of the duties of this department to encourage the student body to participate in organized sports, foster a spirit of fair play, promote sportsmanship among participants, provide facilities for recreation drop-in play, and develop a competitive sports club program with other colleges and outside organizations. This is accomplished through four separate programs: (1) Intramurals, (2) Informal recreation, (3) Sport Clubs, and (4) Wilderness Recreation Center. Intramurals The objective of intramural programming is to promote social interaction and fellowship within Weber State through a wide range of competitive and recreational sports. Participation opportunities are offered in individual, dual, and team sports for both men and women. Many activities are also offered on a co-recreational basis. Informal Recreation This program provides the campus community the opportunity to use a variety of facilities for drop-in recreation. Facilities include a swimming pool, racquetball/ tennis courts, conditioning areas (weights/aerobics), gym floors, six-lane 200 meter indoor track, playfield, and a one mile jogging exercise trail.
