Show PROGRAM: BILINGUAUBICULTURAL COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR- BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific requirements of the College (see index). • Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). • Psych 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Bilingual Bicultural Composite Teaching majors. • A minor is not required. Achieve an overall 2.50 GPA and a demonstrated competence in English and a second language to be used in teaching. • 183 total hours are required for this degree. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). • Students obtaining a Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program. These courses must include the following: Educ 195 (1), 300 (2), 350 (5), 363 (3), 462 (4), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499 (3). Specific Requirements: • Minimum of 70 credit hours. • The Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching major consists of two teaching minors one of which must be a subject which Utah Secondary schools are required to teach. (Minimum of 25 hours each.) NOTE: It is recommended that more advanced courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry be taken, especially if graduate studies are planned beyond the bachelor of science degree. PROGRAM: BUSINESS EDUCATION COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR- BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific course requirements of the college (see index). • Bachelor Degree General Education course requirements of the college (see index). • Specific General Education courses required (9 credits): Econ 101(5), and Comsci 101(4). • A minor is not required. • Composite majors must have a C or better in major courses. • An overall GPA of 2.50 is required of all Education majors. • 183 total hours are required for this degree. • Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). • Business Education Core (34 credits): Math 105(5) or Math ACT score of 18; Econ 102(3); Acctng 201(3), 202(3); Bused 225(4); Busadm 320(4); Comsci 240(4); Mgmt 301(4); and Mktg 301(4). • Major Requirements: Students who have taken Shorthand or Typewriting in high school will be placed in the appropriate level courses by means of an evaluation of their proficiency. Any skill courses that are bypassed may be replaced by elective courses in business. • Students transferring credits from another institution must take at least one typewriting and one shorthand course or equivalency verification at Weber State College to verify their skills. • Any Business Education course over ten years old must be challenged or approved by the Department Chair before acceptance toward a requirement • To enroll in any skill course, a student must have a grade of C or better in the preceding course in the same skill. • Students obtaining a Business Education Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program).
