ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo., March 16. -(By the Associated Press.) - This western mining' town rivaled the ancient tower of babel today in confusion of tongues in a colorful melting- pot celebration which is held annually and has become known as "International night." The German passed the light to another, repeating the sentence in his language and the ceremony continued until forty- three candles vere flaming and forty- three tongues had spoken. Messages were read from ministers and ambassadors of many foreign lands in "Washington. Most of the many new Americans understood arid all applauded when Governor Frank C. Emerson said: "You all had a part and will continue to have a part In the making (si the United States. We must all realize that our country is a great sacred trust that was bequeathed to us and we must pass it on as much better as our combined efforts can make it." Senator King |
