Show Thurs Mar 17 1927 Fifty-seventh Year-No. 347 News and Views by Frank Francis On Thursday evening the Americanization class at the high school listened most attentively to a talk on the American Constitution and citizenship. In the class were young and old from England, Germany, Greece, Japan, Holland, Denmark, Sweden Austria and other foreign lands. The work being carried on by Prof. Wiggins, assisted by Prof. Junk and other teachers in that department is doing much to give those preparing for citizenship a better understanding of. this country and its institutions. Prof. Wiggins says that those who are drawn into the classes never fail to express appreciation for the service rendered them. The Americanization school is essential to the training or the strangers who come to our land without an understanding of the American principles of government. |
