Show Ogden Public Schools W. KARL HOPKINS, SUPERINTENDENT OGDEN, UTAH FRANCIS T. WIGGINS ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT September, 1931 Gentlemen: The Ogden City Schools will commence work Tuesday, September 8, 1931. Part-Time School classes for those granted certificates to enter employment will be held daily from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M, beginning Tuesday, September 8th. Glasses will be held at the Ogden Senior High School. Students, at the convenience of their employer, may choose their four hours of Part-Time School from the above schedule. The State Law requires all persons under sixteen years of age who have not graduated from the eighth grade to attend school full time unless excused by the Superintendent. (Sickness, or support of family where there is a widowed mother or an invalid father, constitute legitimate excuses). Those persons over sixteen and under eighteen years of age, who have not graduated from high school must attend school full time unless legally excused to enter employment. DUTY OF EMPLOYERS. Sec. 6. Any person, firm or corporation employing a child who comes within the provisions of this Act shall permit the attendance of such child upon a part-time school or class whenever such part-time school or class shall have been established in the district where the child resides or may bo employed, and any person firm or corporation employing any such child contrary to the provisions of this Act shall be guilty of misdemeanor. EMPLOYERS TO NOTIFY BOARDS AS TO MINOR EMPLOYEES. The employer of any minors under eighteen years of age shall keep a list of minors so employed and shall keep on file the certificates issued by the Superintendent of Schools, and shall notify the board of education of the district in which the child last attended school of such employment within five days after the beginning of such employment. Upon termination of service of any such employed minor, the employer shall return within five days the age and schooling certificate, to the Superintendent of Schools issuing such certificate. All students under eighteen years of age who have not graduated from High School, and who do not anticipate attending school full time should register immediately at the office of the Board of Educatior and obtain permits to enter employment.
