Show OGDEN CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS W. KAKL HOPKINS, SUPERINTENDENT OGDEN, UTAH Gentlemen: The Ogden City Schools will commence work Monday, September 11, 1922. Part-Time School classes for those granted certificates to enter employment will be held each Saturday from 8 A. M. to 12 noon beginning Saturday, Sept. 16, and each Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6 P. M., beginning Tuesday Sept. 19. Students, at the convenience of their employer, may attend either Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, or Saturday forenoon classes. The State law requires all persons under sixteen years of age who have not graduated from the eighth grade to attend school full time, unless excused by the Superintendent. (Sickness, or support of the family where there is a widowed mother or an invalid father, constitute legitimate excuses). Those persons over sixteen and under eighteen years of age, who have not graduated from High School must attend school full time unless legally excused to enter employment. Persons who are granted certificates to enter employment must attend Part Time-School at least 4 hours per week or 144 hours during the school year. Students who are late in starting, or who absent themselves from their assigned classes, must make up lost time. Irregular attendance and unsatisfactory work may necessitate cancellation of the work permit. Employers are requested to appoint one member of the firm to sign pupils' attendance cards each week. With this interest manifested by employers, excellent attendance by the students will result. Employers will please send to the Superintendent as soon as possible a list of all of their employees who are under eighteen years of age. If in doubt as to the age of an individual please phone this office for the correct date of birth. It is necessary that care be taken and the correct age of juvenile employees be obtained. All students under eighteen years of age who have not graduated from High School, and who do not anticipate attending school should register at the office of the Board of Education not later than Sept. 11, 1922, and obtain permits to enter employment. Yours very truly, W. Karl Hopkins Superintendent F.T. Wiggins Director, Part-Time School |
