Show Ogden City Public Schools W. Karl Hopkins SUPERINTENDENT Ogden, Utah November 5, 1919 Dear Friend: The new School Laws passed by the last Legislature call for full time school attendance of all persons under 18 years of age, who are not High school graduates, unless they are excused from such attendance by the Superintendent of schools, to enter employment. In this latter case, they must attend school on a part time basis of at least 144 hours during the school year. This amounts to at least 4 hours a week for the 36 weeks of school. Our census list shows that you were under 18 on July 31, 1919, and that you have not obtained a permit to work. We expect you to enter full time school immediately if you are not employed, or if employed, to obtain a work permit from the superintendent's office and to attend the part time school. However, if you have reached the age of 18 or have graduated from High school, such work permit or school attendance will not be required, if you advise us of these facts. Very truly yours, W.
