The American's Creed PLEDGE TO FLAG "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands; one Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." THE AMERICAN'S CREED I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people, whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a reppublic; a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect Union, one and inseparable, established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies. AMERICA 1. My Country! 'tis of thee Sweet land of liberty Of thee I sing; Land where my fathers died! Land of the Pilgrim's pride! From every mountain side Let freedom ring. My native country, thee-- Land of the noble free, Thy name I love. I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills My heart with rapture thrills Like that above. 3. Let music swell the breeze, And ring from all the tree Sweet freedom's song; Let mortal tongues awake, Let all that breathe parta Let rocks their silence br The sound prolong. 4. Our fathers r God!--to Thee, Author of liberty, To Thee we sing! Long may our land be bright With freedom's holy light! Protect us by thy might, Great God, our King! |
