Show Displays Arranged In Interesting Way May 20, 1932 Student Work Exhibited In Style To Hold Attention OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL NOTES Elpha Morse, Editor One of the most interesting dis¬plays in several years is shown in Mrs. Newcomb's room. The stu¬dents through their sincerity and efforts have produced an exhibit both colorful and worthwhile. Cur¬rent literature enjoyed by the stu¬dents is exhibited in clever folders and also poster pictures to show the difference between romanticism and realism in their most favored vocation or avocation. Stop in room 300 on your way around in the build- in c and see this exhibit. LATIN PROJECTS Miss Chesney's first and second year Latin students have developed a knack for reproducing Latin events, thoughts and customs. The finished products include colorful maps of the Roman and Gallic provinces, realistic pictures of stirring events and the type of jewelry and clothes worn during the Caesars' time. The more grammatical side of Latin is shown by biographies of famous men and a great many English words are il¬ lustrated and their relation to Latin shown. One person has built a min¬iature of a famous bridge out of twigs.—B. W. K. PROJECTS While you are enjoying the ex¬hibitions that the various rooms have, take some time out to be sure to see the projects in Mrs. Irwin's room. Representing quite a bit of time and labor during this last semester, the projects are built around modern history and civili¬zation. In her room you can find all the details about the Olympic games, the league of nations, differ¬ent forms of government, in fact everything that is going on today. They are in the form of scrapbooks and are very attractive to look through. Almost all the rooms have interesting projects on display. Don't miss any of them.—Helen Parmeley. STILL MORE PROJECTS Flowers, showy ones, shy ones, loud or dainty, they burst upon the eye from every nook and cranny in Mr. Willis Smith's room. Some are on paper and others in bowls, butt all are equally lovely. Staring up in unexpected places are vicious look¬ing insects, but don't be alarmed, they're under glass to add a more natural atmosphere. The displays are the work of months and de¬serve A grades.—M. J. W. POEMS For cleverness and originality see the display of poems in Mrs. Cham¬bers' room. These represent much hard labor and deep thought as do the projects from the other rooms. They are well written and tastefiul- ly displayed. Have you seen them? ON LOYALTY One of the most necessary at¬tributes of a noble character is loy¬alty. Without it one cannot suc¬ceed or even obtain happiness. All through life no matter what one does or what one becomes if he is to have anything at all of which to be proud he must be loyal to himself, his family and his occupation. If for some reason he cannot do this he should change his occupation and his vocation. Loyalty is fundamental. Be happy by being loyal.—The Editor. PET PROS AND CONS Pros: Mr. Hansen's new suit, which re¬minds me of spring, and who doesn't like that? The Price drum-major. He didn't have an inferiority complex about Carbon county coaldust, 'cause he left his hat near my locker. The consolation of knowing on good authority isn't he?) that Ogden High's band offered Price some "pretty stiff competition." Why didn't they take it? Cons: The complete mess we made of the school song last Friday, and when Susie says so, it must be so. The lollypop craze. I knew we'd hear from the juniors before the year was over; as for the seniors- shame, shame! Being a senior now, which is al¬most as bad as being a junior. Am I blue? No-o-o-o—maybe!—Susie Seventeen. DINNER MEETING On Wednesday evening, May 18, the faculty of Ogden High school met at the Green Gables, where they enjoyed a dinner and an hour or so of conversation. Miss Schofield, who has received an ap-pointment to the National Recrea¬tion school, was guest of honor. Superintendent and Mrs. Hopkins were also invited guests.—J. J.
