KINNER EJECTED Kinner, all-state Ogden center, was ejected from the contest aftes less than two minutes of play in the third period. Late in the fourth period Weir was ushered from tha game also for too many violations but the Tigers battled on, despite the loss of these two seasoned ath letes. Herm Lehman's name will be carved in gold letters on the Tiger lair as the result of his bucket that! decided the issue. Every member of the two team$ gave marvelous account of them¬selves. The outstanding feature in the eyes of all critics was the bril¬liant sportsmanship of the twd teams. Mayor Louis Marcus of Salt Lake presented Captain Dale Anderson of the Tigers with the championship trophy after the game. Superin¬tendent G. N. Childs of the Salts Lake schools presented Captain Joe Lambert with the runner-up tro¬phy. One of the smallest crowds thatj ever witnessed a state tournament finale gave Red Wade the cheer as he dropped in two free throws td get Weber on the way. Weir of Og¬den was wide on two fouls but Kinner got a followup, shot to tie the score. Fowler, the all-state guard, was breaking up Weber thrusts with rare skill. Kinner took a pass from, Chard and dribbled in for a tieup Fowler converted on Greenwell's er¬ror. Kinner made good on Wade's foul and Wade scored a field goal by way of retaliation. Weir slip¬ped a side shot into the net, a verj impressive feat. The contest seem¬ed to lag for a titular match. There j seemed to be no concern by the spectators as to the ultimate win¬ner. Chard and McLlean added 3 point apiece on free throws, Chard fouled and Weir was successful on the throw. The score at the quar¬ter, Ogden 9, Weber 6. CALLED FOR FOULING Greenwell evaded his guard and without looking at the boards, roll¬ed in a pretty goal. Kinner batted the ball out of Wade's hand and was called for fouling. Wade mada the pitch. Chard was nabbed foB shadow blocking and Anderson got a one-pointer for the error. Weis muffed a throw that would have netted a setup. Wade tried to chis¬el in on all the tieups but the ref¬erees would not stand for it. In a scramble under the basket Fowled pushed in a ringer and it was 12 to 9. Kinner was unmolested on an under the rim toss. Kinner mads a beautiful back-hand pass to An¬derson and Ogden was 16 points to 10 as the half ended. There was a dazzling display of passing at the start of the second half with neither five working into proper shooting position until An¬derson converted on a spinning side throw. Ogden had an eight-point lead as Kinner was ejected on fouls. It appeared as though he merely reached over Wade's shoulder and placed his hand on the ball. Wil¬liams took Kinner's place. Chard fouled and Lehman made one out of two free throws. Wade wasi caught fouling. Fowler missed. He followed in for a field goal. Fowler played center and Williams went to guard. Weir fouled for the third time in the game. Lambert missed, Powell replaced Chard. The game was much faster than the low score indicated. Both sides were missing in disheartening fashion. It was 21 to 10 at the three-quarter mark. Neither side had made a field goal in two quarters. LONG SIDE SHOT Wade heaved a long side shot for two points to open the festivities in the final stanza. Greenwell was a dead-shot on another just like it and Ogden's lead was cut to sev¬en points. Lehman was unguarded on a pass from Fowler and netted a setup. Chard cancelled that one in the scoring orgy. Greenwell committed a misplay but Anderson ;missed the try for point. Wade got I two throws on Weir's personal, his (fourth of the game. Boerens re¬placed Weir. Wade made one point on the two throws. Big Red sneak- ed in another setup and it was 23 to 19 for Ogden. The fight was furi¬ous. It was one tieup to another. Lambert snagged a beautiful bril¬liant goal with two minutes and 45 seconds to go. The score was 23 to 21. Anderson fouled and Green¬well scored the point. Weber broke up Ogden's stall but Anderson foul¬ed and Lambert converted. It was tied. Fowler missed a setup. The regulation playing time was called with the teams deadlocked. Weber turned in 13 points in the quarter. Ogden getting only two. Wade opened the extra sideshow by tipping in a two-pointer. He fouled Fowler, who missed. Leh¬man barely missed a desperate try. Fowler got another foul pitch and made it good. Chard fouled and i went out of the game. Anderson missed. Greenwell made an error,;! and Lehman made it good to tie the score again. The gun sounded the finish of the first extra period!: with a score of 25 to 25. The players had a prolonged rest in their dressing rooms. They had the task of playing a three-minute extra period. If the score were still deadlocked, the first two points t made would decide the game. Leh¬man arched a field goal from near the foul line, and Lambert did the same thing in a second or two later, f It was all tied up again. Williams fouled Wade, who had his long feet over the line. No score. Leh¬man fouled and Lambert was wide f on the throw. Powell was nipped 1 for blocking, and Boerens failed to ij convert. It was still tied at the end j of the second extra period, 27 to 27. They had to play for two points. They went frantic for that field goal that would terminate the great¬est battle in Utah tournament his-tory. Lehman took a pass from Fowler and slipped in the goal that won the game, 29 to 27. Three extra periods were necessary before 1 the Tigers won, 29 to 27. The teams tied at 23-all at the! end of the regular playing time,! were knotted at 25-25 at the end of!? the first extra period and at 27-27 at the end of the second extra period, Ogden tallied one goal in the third extra period. Logan thumped East High of Salt Lake City, 42 to 17, to take fifth place in the tournament. Lehi won third place by nosing out Granite, TIGERS LOSE ENTIRE SQUAD FOR NEW RACE Kapple Must Build Up New Machine Again For 1933 Season Ogden high hoopsters, 1932 state scholastic champions, lose seven of of their ten regulars at the close of ths present season. This means 'that Coach Dick Kapple must de¬velop an entire new machine for the 1933 season. Every member of the first string will finish the season in the playoff with Idaho Falls and close their I careers. Bill Kinner, Herm Lehman and: Dale Anderson and Joe Fowler all graduate and Johnny Weir will not be eligible next season on account of the age ruling. Glen Hendricks and Harm Wil¬liams both graduate also Lee Boerens, forward; Bud Ellis, forward, and Jack Patterson, guard, are the members of the squad who will return next year.
