This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Appointments 1947 or Other Data Charles R. Smart transferred to Hamilton Field Calif from Amarilla Texas About Feb. 18 1946. Mar. 3 Dr & I & Avon took plane at Ogden for 2 weeks trip to Los Angeles & after a trip not too smoth (Avon was ill) we landed in L.A. 4 hr. Mar 9. Dr & I took plane to Palo Alto time 2 and one half hr. Enjoyed it all so much. Mar 1946 Col. T.C. Rich recd from French Gov. a certificate & Medal for making him Chevalier in the Legion De Honour in recognition of Services in Seine Section Europe Theater of War where he was Surgeon of the same April 9 A baby girl born to Ralph W. & Maren E. Hardy. 8 name Allison Mar 21 Cleone Eccles and Robert McIntye Yeates were married at home by her grandfather Dr Edward I. Rich. May 3 Charles Rich Smart went via plane with crew of 15 officers & one other private to Tokyo. He is engineer. Sharen Rich graduated from Ogden High School May 31 1946 Carol Russell was operated June 21 at Ann Arbor Mich. for Appendicitis. Appointments 1947 or Other Data June about 18 Richard B Rich fell down Stadium steps, at U of Los Angeles & broke his jaw. Jyly 7 Joseph W. Brewer Jr. made a teacher in Mt Ogden Ward July 15 Dr & I took train for Portland & then on to Seattle, Vancover, Alaska & Canada. July 18 Col Thair C Rich made honor member of faculty of Wiener University. Cloteel Richard & Ruth Rich left July 16 from L.A. Calif. via train to N.Y. to sail Aug 5 for Vienna to join Thair their husband & father. Dr & I returned via plane from Lethbridge Canada Aug 3 after a wonderful trip. Avon & family returned home to Los Angeles after six weeks vacation in Utah & Wyoming Sept 29 46 Aug Mary & Taylor went via train to N.Y. Sept 12 1946. Dr H.C. Hancock went to Los Angeles to Open offices & make his home Sept 12. |
