This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show 15. Main and Water streets. This painting shows the residence of Sidney Rigdon, the Mansion House, the Nauvoo House, and Joseph Smiths first home there, etc. 16. Parley P. Pratts home. 17. William Marks home. 18. The arsenal. This building is now incorporated into a Catholic school. 19. The Masonic temple at Nauvoo. 20. The Temple Site. 21. The Howard Cory home. 22. The home of Wilson Law. 23. Sugar Creek. This is the spot at which the artist believes the Mormons camped the first night out of Nauvoo. 24. Frank Paulins home. 25. Orson Hydes home. 26. The Clark home. In the rear of this house, was located the grove where Joseph Smith frequently preached during the summer months. 27. Joseph Smiths store. In this building the Relief Society was organized; also where the first complete endowments were given, the prophet officiating. These paintings are the work of Lane K. Newberry, Illinois artist, who has made a detailed study of Nauvoo. The exhibit was arranged by The News management through Gail Martin, Deseret News art editor. |
