Show M-300 REGULATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS TO GOVERN THE REGISTRATION AND EXAMINATION OF ALIENS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 16 AND 35 YEARS WHO DO NOT POSSESS A KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH EQUIVALENT TO THAT REQUIRED FOR PROMOTION FROM THE FIFTH GRADE OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL, 1. The district school superintendent shall appoint persons to take charge of the registration and examination of applicants. 2. The registration places within the district shall be determine by the district superintendent. 3. Registration shall be held Thursday, September 1, 1921, from 8:00 A. M. till 8:00 P. M. 4. In case of doubt as to whether a person should register, the registrar shall determine the question by means of the examination provided by the State Board of Education. 5. The law exempts from examination and registration the physically or mentally disqualified. In case the registrar is in doubt as to whether an applicant is physically or mentally disqualified, he shall require the applicant to secure a doctor's certificate showing such disqualification. 6. The registrar shall make a list of the names, ages, and addresses of persons who are obviously disqualified for registration. The examination will be based on selections from Searson's Fifth Reader. 8. The examiner shall satisfy himself of the applicant's ability not only to read the printed page but also to understand what he reads. 9. The registrar shall collect the $10.00 instruction fee at the time of registration. 10. The registrar shall immediately deposit with the district superintendent all moneys collected. He shall check with the superintendent the amount of money received with the credit given on the registration cards. 11. As the district superintendent is held responsible for all registration cards which he receives from the office of the State Board of Education, the registrar will, in no case, destroy a registration card. 12. The superintendent shall forward all moneys received to the state treasurer not later than October 1, 1921. An error has crept into the "School Laws". The time limit at which the fees must be in the State Treasurer's office is October 1, not October 15. Respectfully, STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, A. C.
