Show students. There are two categories of students who can be admitted to the program: 1. Students majoring in accounting who have completed all their junior level work. 2. Students who have earned a bachelor's degree. Students who are admitted at the end of their junior year are allowed to take graduate level courses in their senior year. Typically, these students mix senior level courses and graduate courses during their fourth and fifth years of study. Students who have earned a bachelor's degree in an area other than accounting may be admitted to the graduate program; however, these students must fulfill additional requirements at the undergraduate level before taking graduate level courses. To be considered for admission to graduate study in Accounting, applicants must: 1. Submit an application for admission to the Department of Accounting. If not currently matriculated, applicants must also submit an application to Weber State College. 2. Submit transcripts of all previous college work. 3. Submit scores from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). 4. Submit three letters of recommendation (waived if a current student at Weber State with a major in Accounting). Additional materials such as resumes or other relevant information may be submitted at the applicant's discretion. Applicants with a combined GMAT-GPA index* in excess of 1200 will be unconditionally accepted into the program. Applicants with scores between 1000 and 1200 will be subject to review by the Graduate Admissions Committee before any admission decision is made. *The GMAT-GPA index is computed by multiplying the overall GPA (four-point scale) by 200 and adding that number to the GMAT score. International Student Applicants International student applicants must submit the following documents at least 60 days prior to the start of the quarter in which they plan to enroll: 1. An application for admission. 2. A $35 nonrefundable application fee. 3. Official transcripts in English from each secondary school, college, or university attended showing degrees, diplomas, and certificates received. Transfer applicants must have attended the prior college or university for at least one academic year and must present evidence of having earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or "C." 4. International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency by presenting a TOEFL score of 500 or above. Test results should be sent directly from The College Board to the Admissions Office. International students transferring from another college or university who have not completed the equivalent of Weber State's English 101 Freshman Composition course with a grade of C- or better or who are unable to present evidence of English proficiency will be assigned to the WSC English as a Second Language Program (ESL). 5. A financial statement indicating the availability of at least $10,300 for school and living expenses during the first year at the college, and adequate funds for the full length of the time they expect to be enrolled. International students are admitted for enrollment every quarter (summer excepted) and must take at least 12 credit hours each quarter. All international students are required to meet with the International Student Adviser immediately after arriving on campus to receive individualized briefing and academic advice. The International Student Adviser gives assistance to students in meeting U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service requirements concerning visas, passports, permits, permission to work, and related matters. Students are also assisted in making academic, social, and environmental adjustments to campus and community life. Nongraduate Applicants Students 18 years of age and older who have not yet completed high school may be considered for admission by passing the General Education Development Test (GED) with scores specified by the College. In order for 18-year-olds to qualify to take the GED, the high school class of which they were a member must have graduated. The ACT is also required and a composite score of 18 or better may be used by non-high school graduates to satisfy high school equivalency. Readmission Applicants Students who interrupt their continuous enrollment at WSC by not registering for one or more quarters, with the exception of Summer Quarter, must apply for readmission. To reapply, applicants must complete the following steps by the appropriate deadline: 1. Submit an application for readmission. (Not required of applicants who have been out of school for less than one year. Such students may reapply simply by calling the WSC Admissions Office and requesting that a registration form be prepared for them for the quarter in which they intend to enroll.) 2. Pay the application fee. (Required only of students who have attended another college or university since last attending Weber State.) 3. Request official transcripts from each institution attended since last enrolling at WSC. Transfer students who have completed 15 credit hours or more will not be required to take the ACT if the equivalent of Weber State's English 101 is included in the 15 hours, and was completed with a grade of C- or better. Students transferring to Weber State with an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree earned at any institution within the Utah System of Higher Education will be considered as having met the Weber State general education requirements. Those transferring from a Utah System institution which does not offer an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree , who have met that institution's general education requirements while earning a 93 to 96 credit-hour certificate or diploma, will be considered as having met the Weber State general education requirements if the registrar at the institution of graduation will certify that the transferring students have completed baccalaureate- level general education requirements. Credit for non-general education courses numbered 100 or above which is earned in the Utah System of Higher Education is transferable within the System and will be carried on the student's transcript by Weber State. Acceptance of credit should not be confused with its application. Transfer credit may or may not apply to Weber State's graduation requirements, regardless of the number of credits transferred. Credit other than that intended wholly to meet general education requirements will be applied to Weber State's specific degree program requirements upon the recommendation of the appropriate department chairperson. Students transferring from accredited junior or senior colleges outside of the Utah System of Higher Education will be accepted with upper division standing if they present evidence of having completed an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree and have completed a general education program comparable to that of Weber State College. If such is not presented, applicants may be required to complete general education courses as outlined in this catalog.
