service staff receives increased responsibilities The responsibilities of the service staff increased greatly as the college grew. Secretaries and clerks found it necessary to learn new ways of processing as a result of the high enrollment. The new buildings on campus caused additions to the staff of custodians. The library staff was especially busy arranging books and acquainting students with the layout and additional services of the new library. The duty of landscaping around new buildings was added to those of the grounds and maintenance staff. Supervisors and managers were busy planning and preparing for an expanding campus.
