juniors set precedent with class council The Junior Class Officers organized a council to give class members broader representation. The sophomores and freshmen later followed the juniors' example. Individual members of the council handled decorating, publicity, programs, refreshments, and special projects for the class activities. Appointees were Gerri McDonald, Cliff Vellinga, Clarence Vellinga, Art Jones, Gay-land Jessen, and Eileen Peterson. The major activities of the class were the Junior Prom, and the beard growing contest followed by the Stubble Stomp at which prizes were given to the most hirsute males. Steve Barlow, who was elected vice president, resigned to attend Brig-ham Young University. The senate approved the appointment of Dave Parkinson as his replacement.
