Show 356 Continuing Education & Community Services Dr. Laird Hartman, Dean Weber State University Continuing Education and Community Services serves the mission of the University through learning partnerships with non-traditional constituencies such as business and industry, local and state government agencies; and with professional, trade, and special interest associations. These learning partnerships are conducted in a variety of alternative formats, at convenient times and places through classroom lectures, laboratories, workplace practica, online delivery, or by mail. Learning experiences range from academic degree programs and courses delivered in cooperation with the university's academic departments to customized noncredit courses that draw on community resources, all with appropriate student support services that meet the needs of its diverse clientele. A network of collaborative working relationships reaches pre-college students; working, re-entering and older adult learners; business and industry; governmental agencies; non-profit groups; public education organizations; and professional associations. Continuing Education addresses regional and national needs for education and professional development. Student convenience determines the locations for continuing education classes, training and conferences. Classes are taught on the main campus in Ogden after 4:30 p.m.; at the WSU-Davis Campus in Layton; WSU-West Center in Roy; WSU-Morgan Center in Morgan and at public high schools throughout Weber, Davis and Morgan counties. Distance learning offers independent study and online classes to serve students in remote areas and those who prefer to work at their own pace. Students in these classes can earn high school and college credits at the same time. Concurrent Enrollment credits/grades become part of the student's permanent WSU transcript. Early College Program Early College allows students to fulfill both high school and university graduation requirements at the same time by attending classes at the university while they are still in high school. University faculty teach classes, and the credits/grades from the Early College program become part of the student's permanent WSU transcript. Students are responsible for university tuition and fees, and Utah colleges and most out-of-state and private universities will accept Early College credits.
