Show 17) Tromax Site Preparation Work involved clearing of site; 900,000 sq. ft. of excavation; 2760 cu. yd. topsoil; 14,600 cu. yd. clay cut and 14,300 cu. yd. of compacted fill. The client was Tromax Pty. Ltd., and the work amounted to $8,139. The work was started in December 1959 and completed January 1960. 18) Gamma Sterilization Design and construction of an isotope storage tank and equipment for Gamma Sterilization Pty. Ltd. in the amount of $29,331. The cost plus management fee was started in February of 1960 and completed in September of 1960. 19) Eden Terminal Compound Wall Construction of a reinforced concrete wall for the Vacuum Oil Co. Pty Ltd. in Australia. The cost of this lump sum project was $38,827. Work was started June 1960 and completed September 1960. 20) Installation of Mechanical Equipment for an Ammonium nitrate Plant Project called for the installation of special piping, vessels and material-handling equipment by Utah. Because of the explosive nature of materials being handled at this plant and the fact that new work had to be integrated into facilities which at the time were engaged in the manufacture of explosives, this project called for careful coordination between the owner, Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand Ltd., and Utah engineers. The work was located at Deer Park, Victoria, and cost $30,188. The lump sum project was started in May of 1960 and completed in October of 1960. Utah could not complete the project on schedule due to delays caused by non-arrival of equipment that was furnished by the owner. Client approved contract extension of time. 21) Long Beach Harbor Dredging This work involved the diking, dredging and filling of piers for the city of Long Beach, Long Beach, California. The cost of the project was $2,723,632, and work was started in November of 1959 and completed in July of 1960. The contract was unit price and the dredge "Franciscan" was used to do the work. Estimated profit was reduced by failure of the rock contractor, Graham Brothers, to keep ahead of dredging. Mr. Floyd Crites was the Project Manager on the project. |
