Show TOQUEPALA PROJECT AGGREGATE PRODUCTION FACILITIES INCAPUQUIO - TOQUEPALA Aggregate for the Mine Shops Area structural concrete was produced using screens and a screw classifier from the Toquepala mine pilot plant, beginning in July 1956. On October 1, 1956, a Pioneer Model 39V portable crushing plant was placed in operation in Quebrada Cimarrona several kilometers below Incapuquio camp. Here, dry river-run material was scalped to maximum 6 inch, crushed, and screen graded. In early 1957, an improvised blower system was added to aid in removal of excessive fines from the sand. This installation supplied overall requirements of the general Toquepala area until July 19, 1957, when the complete plant at Incapuquio was placed in operation. This Incapuquio plant consisted of the following: Primary Crushing - Model 172 Pioneer 24" by 36" eccentric jaw crusher, diesel driven, with grizzly and 36" by 12' apron feeder. Secondary Crushing - Pioneer Model 39V portable crushing plant. Pioneer Model 405-W complete washing and screening plant. Armco multi-plate reclaim tunnel. Belt conveyors, storage bins, and hoppers as required. To the above installation was added in February 1958 an Allis- Chalmers 51" Hydrocone crusher, the Smelter sample crushing unit, delivered early and temporarily Installed to increase plant production of sand and pea gravel. This entire plant remained in continuous operation until mid-April, 1959, with an average production of approximately 500 CY per 3 hour shift. The pit, located in upper Incapuquio Quebrada a kilometer above the plant, was worked using one each P & H Model 655 and Model 255 shovels, one Allis-Chalmers HD-21 tractor, and three 6 CI Mack dump trucks. Plant to work area haul required an average of 10 Mack trucks. |
