Show ILO PORT Buildings and facilties costructed in this area included: Port Warehouse Refrigerated Stores Building Ingot Storage Platform Worker's Toilet Area Fencing Explosive Storage Magazines (2) Railroad Fuel Loading Station Railroad Yard Trackage Sewage System Water Distribution System Electrical Distribution System Communication System With the onset of project construction move in begining in late Jun 1956, steps were immediately take to fence property belonging to Southern Peru Copper Corporation at the seaport of Ilo to roughly the permanent compound configuration for purposes of storing incoming equipment and material. This was followed as closely as possible with erection of the permanent Port Warehouse, completed in April 1957, to handle items requiring in-storage, and completed with various temporary warehouse building, construction office and shops. Throughout for practically all general building supplies. (See report section entitled Freight and Transportation.) The Explosive Storage Machines, constructed along the railroad above Ilo, were completed in January 1957, and the Refrigerated Stores building was first occupied in May 1958. Completion of the permanent pier by Foley Brothers, Inc. In October 1957 allowed construction of remaining permanent yard rail trackage to facilitate port operations. Construction of the Ingot Storage Platform, 102' wide x 910' long, was |
