Show Marriott-Slaterville City History January 2017 Vice-Chair Meyerhoffer expressed his concern about the lowered water table in portions of the City due to water being pumped from the Willard Canal as a result of the recent construction. Mr. Morris suggested he obtain a copy of the Environment Impact Statement and follow up with the state. City Council Meeting-January 19, 2017 Current City Council President Scott Van Leeuwen and Vice-President Dennis Ilium were both elected for the year 2017 by acclamation. The Council approved the appointment of Dale Neal to replace Rick Taylor on the Planning Commission. The following new Business Licenses were approved: Lawless Diesel, LLC, Effortless Exertion, and Jerry Stanger for a welding/fabrication business. Mr. Morris presented the annual training on the Open and Public Meetings Act, and Non-discrimination. The City Building Standards and Code are outdated and he City has received a request from the Building Official and Fire Marshall to update Title II to reflect the new codes. Therefore, the Council approved Ordinance 2017-01-A in order to update the Municipal Code. Ordinance 2017-02 adopting the proposed Community Reinvestment Project Area Plan for Jeremiah's West was approved by the Council. Ordinance 2017-03 updating election filing and fees was unanimously approved the Council. Mr. Morris explained the process for filling mid-term vacancies. This is a result of Councilman Kim Slater leaving for an LDS mission in March 2017. Bits and Pieces Raymond James Holley, 85, passed away on January 18, 2017. Joseph Lynn Elmer, 74, passed away on January 23, 2017. Marie Bingham Saunders, 92, passed away on January 23, 2017. Benjamin Joseph Stanger, son of Jeremy Joseph and Elizabeth Stanger was born on January 20, 2017. |
