Show Marriott-Slaterville City History May 2017 Resolution 2017-B granting approval for an Interlodal agreement with Weber County for a RAMP grant for the Slaterville Park Playground was approved unanimously by the Council. Lt. Chad Ferrin and Chief Deputy Clint Anderson from the Weber County Sheriffs Office presented the new Sheriffs Office Law Enforcement Contract. The sheriffs office budget is $9.3 million. The contract cities constitute 57% of that budget based upon a recent update review conducted by the county. After further discussion Council approved Resolution 2017-C unanimously. Mr. Morris reviewed the tentative Pioneer Special Service District Budget, the FY 2016-17 amended budget and the FY 2016-17 tentative budget, resulting in a Public Hearing being scheduled for all three on June 15, 2017. This was approved by the Council. Council discussed plans and assignments for the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Bits and Pieces Mike Love, owner of Love Towing in Marriott-Slaterville supports an ordinance passed by the Ogden City Council last June to rein in predatory towing. He said it didn't make it worse on his company, but rather leveled the playing field so that other towing companies had to adhere to the same regulations. Last June the Ogden City Council passed an ordinance reining in so-called "ambush" towing. And anecdotally, complaints about those quick, surprise tows have tapered off. The new rules require clear and uniform signage, digital documentation of parking violations that prompted the tow, waiting periods before vehicles can be towed, quick notice to the police department when vehicles get towed, and streamlining the vehicle retrieval process for those who suddenly find themselves without wheels and facing significant fees. The Standard Examiner featured an article on Dr. Kathryn Borrett of Borrett Animal Hospital, highlighting her love of veterinary medicine and her career of almost 40 years. For most of those years she has volunteered with the Wasatch Pony Club, a chapter of the United States Pony Club. In front of a crowd of about a dozen people at her office, Borrett received the Local Legend Award from the pony club on Monday, May 15*^. The First United Methodist Church in Marriott-Slaterville invited local kids to its Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School this summer. The Vacation Bible School will run from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, June 5'^ through Friday, June 9*^ at the church, located at 1339 W 400 N. The free offering is for children from age 3 through sixth grade. Kids who arrive early can get a light meal at 5:00 pm. A 77-year-old man was airlifted to a Salt Lake City hospital Saturday, May 27, 2017 after his SUV rolled over during a car crash. The crash occurred just before noon when a semi-trailer on 500 S in Marriott-Slaterville attempted to turn left and pulled in front of a northbound SUV on 4700 W. According to Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Chad Allen the SUV driver swerved to avoid the |
