Show Marriott-Slaterville City History March 2017 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History March 2017 March started out cold with snow and rain, but ended with unseasonal warmth and rain. We are anticipating spring flooding this year due to all the snow and rain we have received this winter. Residents were warned that if they have a sump pump, land drain or rain gutter connected to the sewer system [which is illegal] it is a misdemeanor resulting in a $1,000 fine. A sandbag staging area has been set up at the City Hall Park. Residents are free to use the sandbags as needed in emergencies, and are responsible to fill, load and place their own sandbags. They are asked to check public storm drains and culverts for blockages and report any flooding problems to the city. If flooding becomes severe CERT and Emergency Management crews may be activated to assist. Applications are being accepted for the City Council [West District] to fill the vacancy of Kim Slater who has left to serve an IDS Mission. Interested applicants must submit a one-page resume to the City office by March 15, 2017. To apply you must reside In the West District and meet the eligibility criteria established under Utah Code. Citv Council Meeting - March 16. 2017 Cheri Sparks and Mercy Jacobo from Weber Human Services, spoke to the Council about Communities That Care [CTC]. This is a local coalition-based system that uses a public health approach to prevent community problems such as violence, delinquency, school drop-out and substance abuse. There is currently a matching prevention funding available through the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and Weber Human Services. However, in order to establish a long-standing coalition, their goal is to have each city support and participate in the coalition as a means to help families that live within our communities. They would like the city to participate annually in the amount of $262.00, which is based on our population. They would also like someone from our city to participate on the board. Randy Phipps has been appointed as the City Emergency Coordinator. Mr. Morris discussed findings from the FY 2015-16 Audit Report. Business Licenses were approved for the following: • Women's Health and Birth Care Clinic • Memo's Fruit • Casper's Ice Cream Erin Holley was appointed as a council member to replace Kim Slater and she will serve his remaining term. The Oath of Office was administered to her. The annual Spring Cleanup will be held on April 22"^ and 23''^'with dumpsters being placed at both the Slaterville and Marriott Parks. |
