Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2017 Planning Commission Meeting-November 21, 2017 A Public Hearing was held to change the zoning from A-1 to C-2P for a Subdivision Application submitted by Ty Martinez at approximately 1554 S 1100 W. The zoning amendment was approved by the Planning Commission subject to several stipulations. Mr. Martinez also requested a zoning change on property located at 1439 S 1200 W, which was approved subject to certain stipulations. The Venture IDS Seminary requested a 24-month Site Plan extension, which was approved by the Commission. They previously received a temporary Site Plan approval for construction of a seminary for the adjacent charter high school in 2012, for which an extension was granted for 18 more months in May 2016. Now they feel that the student body population has increased to the point where they can proceed with this new extension. Harris & Hart submitted an application for a Site Plan Amendment to add a 6,065 sq ft building to their existing business, but our current ordinance only allows for a 3,000 sq ft extension. The Commission approved the amendment subject to several conditions. ConRock submitted a Site Plan amendment for the purpose of constructing a building for office and garage facilities. This amendment was approved subject to several conditions. Penske Truck Leasing wants to purchase the site at 927 W 12'^ to locate a business. This site is currently zoned Manufacturing and was formerly KJ Mechanical. The Planning Commission approved a temporary occupancy of 12 months provided they comply with several requirements. Construction of a cell phone tower for Verizon was approved at 1862 W Pioneer Rd, subject to several conditions. Carl Parker will be retiring from the Planning Commission at the end of this year. Chair Les Syme will serve again for another term, and Kent Schofieid, Maurice Pitcher and Dale Neal will all be reappointed. Terms for the current alternates Sherry Morris and Will Holley are expiring and will not be renewed, which will necessitate appointment of someone else to fill their positions. City Council Meeting-November 22. 2017 The Board of Canvassers approved the recent election results for our city. Scott Van Lueewen was elected as our new Mayor, with Erin Holley as a new City Council member representing the West District, and Delbert Hodson being re-elected from the East District. The City had a 65% turnout of 871 registered voters. The turn out with mail-in voting was much higher than having a polling location. Staff presented a proposed Historical Marker Program along with the supporting policies for our community. This program would commemorate significant people, places and events within our city. |
