Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2017 A Public Hearing was held regarding the Community Development Block Grant program. The purpose of the hearing was to provide citizens with pertinent information about this program and to allow discussion of possible applications for the 2018 funding cycle. The grant money must be spent on projects benefiting primarily low and moderate income persons. Staff also reviewed completed projects, one-year projects and long-term projects with the City Council for the 2018-19 Capital Investments Plan. Possible projects included Historical Markers, Pioneer Road realignment and Reconstruction Phase 2, along with identifying slum and blight mitigation areas. An application by Ty Martinez to amend the Zoning Map from Agriculture to Commercial at approximately 1500 5 1200 W was also discussed and approved by the Council. The EPA mandate from Phase II of the Clean Water Act was discussed. The Council expressed their concerns about increasing these fees and presented fee amounts from other cities in the County. This item was then tabled pending more information on the anticipated expenses for storm water utility fees. Staff indicated that the Business License study must be updated every 5 years, which means the next update will be in 2018. Zions Bank has submitted a proposal to prepare the study at a cost of $5,500.00. This includes the data, computation, written study and then the presentation to the City. Council discussed the upcoming Breakfast with Santa on December 9^*^ and the annual staff Christmas Party on December 21®^ Bits and Pieces Myron "Mike" Wright, 87, passed away on November 4, 2017. Prudence L. Kuhn, 86, passed away on November 11, 2017. Brent Hamblin, 66, passed away on November 11, 2017. New mayors will take the helm at six Weber County cities next year in the wake of last Tuesday's municipal voting. Scott Van Leeuwen beat Stacy Palen 350 votes to 123 in the race for mayor of Marriott-Slaterville. He will replace Keith Butler, who did not seek re-election. Mayor Butler was the City's first mayor, serving for 18 years. |
