Show Marriott-Slaterville City History June 2017 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History June 2017 The weather turned hot in June, but we did have a small reprieve around the middle of the month when we had about a 1" rainstorm on Tuesday, June 13'*^. Preparations for the upcoming 4^^ of July celebration are in full swing. Planned activities include the Seventeenth Annual Golf Tournament on June 30'^ a 5K Run/Walk, breakfast at the Marriott Park at 8:00 am, a parade, lunch and lots of other fun activities. Beginning July 8^^ and every Saturday thereafter a Garden Market and Garage Sale will be held at the City Hall Park located at 1570 W 400 N from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. More information is available by contacting Cecile Morris at (801) 628-2921. One-on-one personal counseling is available through Weber Human Services. Counselors will help at no cost with questions regarding prescription drug coverage. Medicare Advantage Plans, initial enrollment, income subsidies for medications, along with help with medical billing problems. Weber Human Services Department of Aging may be contacted at (801) 625-3770. The Weber County Mosquito Abatement District offers many services and information to the public. They can be contacted at (801) 392-1630. City Council Meeting - June 15. 2017 Kathie Darby, Director of the YCC Family Crisis Center gave a presentation on the services they provide to the community. They are currently operating at a deficit and cannot continue to provide these services without assistance from local government entities. They are requesting $150,000 in yearly ongoing funding to be split among the cities and county by population. Council members approved the adoption of the FY 2016-17 amended budget, FY 2017-18 final budget and FY 2016-17 final budget for Pioneer Special District. They also approved an Interlocal Agreement with Harrisville City for financial, licensing and human resource staffing and materials. Final plans for the 4*^^ of July celebration were discussed, along with the recent filing of candidates for the upcoming mayoral and council vacancies. Planning Commission Meeting - June 20. 2017 The commission approved a Conditional Use Site Plan for a utility substation for Questar Gas at 450 N 2000 W. Mr. Brandley said that a letter of non-compliance has been sent to the county and the owner of the trailer parked illegally on private property on West 17^^ St. Fines are currently accruing daily and if it is not removed by the 4^^ of July the city will take action. |
