Show Marriott-Slaterville City History April 2017 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History April 2017 The Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Slaterville Park. This event is sponsored by Les Olson Company and the City. The complimentary Spring Clean-Up was held on April 22"*^ and 23 . Dumpsters were placed at the Slaterville and Marriott Parks for resident's use. Flooding is the most common weather-related natural disaster in Utah, and especially Marriott- Slaterville. Residents are encouraged to prepare for floods by having flood insurance, avoiding areas prone to flooding, having emergency supplies on hand, keeping important documents in a waterproof container, and pay attention to weather forecasts. Sand and empty sandbags are available at the City Office. Applications are being accepted for two positions in the City; Custodian for the three city parks as a seasonal worker, and a full-time Finance and Code Officer. Burn permits issued by the State of Utah can be obtained online from the Department of Environmental Quality at http://www.airaualitv.utah.gov/Compliance/Open Burning/index.htm. The spring burn permit window is March 31^^ to May 30' . The fall burn permit period is September IS^'' to October 30^ if approved by the State Forester. Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for April 18,2017 was cancelled Citv Council Meeting - April 20. 2017 In commemoration of Arbor Day Council members were shown pictures of the newly relocated and rebuilt historic Smout Cabin, which was moved from the property east of Toad's golf course to an area behind the Venture Academy. Trees will be planted around the cabin. Business Licenses were approved for TMD Development, LLC and Rez Transmissions. Resolution 2017-A adopting an Interlocal agreement with Weber County for 2017 election services was approved by the Council unanimously. Councilwoman Erin Holley discussed re-establishing a Youth Council in the City, commenting that they could be responsible for many community activities and service projects. She has met with Harrisville City for ideas on how their Youth Council functions within their city. She would like to have this advertised in our city newsletter and posters, with applications available at local schools and the City Office. Other items discussed by the Council were a $3.7 million grant to reconstruct 1200 West, property acquisition underway for the Pioneer Road project, a Ramp Grant received for the playground at the Slaterville Park, and various road projects and issues, as well as the upcoming |
