Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2017 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History November 2017 November became even cooler as we move toward winter, with measurable rain finally being received the weekend after Halloween. However, we did tie the heat record for Thanksgiving. The National Weather Service said that the high of 65 degrees matched the record set on Thanksgiving in 1910. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the high of 68 degrees broke a record for that date set in 1926. Each year residents have an opportunity to nominate a person or business in the community for our annual awards. Nominations are now being accepted by the Mayor for the following: > The Good Neighbor Award-nominate an exemplary neighbor, leader or business. > Eina Lucas Community Culture/History Award-nominate a person who has contributed to our local community history or culture. > H. Orvil Holley Youth Leadership Award-nominate an outstanding youth. > Darrell Mecham Community Service Award-nominate an extraordinary volunteer. The deadline for nominations is December 7, 2017 and should be submitted to the City. The annual Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the City Offices. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Winter will soon be upon us and residents were reminded that there is no parking along any roads during and after snowstorms so the snow plows can operate. Weber County plows the most traveled roads first, with subdivisions and lesser traveled roads being plowed last. Residents and businesses with sidewalks are responsible to remove the snow from their sidewalk within 24-hours after a snowstorm. The Canvass of the 2017 Municipal Election was held on November 22, 2017 prior to City Council Meeting. Secondary water has now been turned off and residents were advised to winterize their irrigation systems. City Parks have been winterized and are closed for reservations until April 15, 2018. Central Weber Sewer District will increase their fees 3% beginning January 1, 2018. Thanks to all the volunteers and participants who helped make another wonderful Trunk-or- Treat. |
