Show Marriott-Slaterville City History September 2017 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History September 2017 After an extremely hot, dry summer with temperatures lingering in the 90's and lOO's we finally received some very welcome cooler, wetter weather around the middle of the month. Significant amounts of rain fell during the last week, providing much needed moisture On September 21, 2017 at 6:30 pm the candidates hosted a Meet the Candidates Night at City Hall located at 1570 W 400 N. Many residents attended and met their candidates for Mayor and City Council. The municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 7*'^. Ballots will be mailed out 30 days prior to the election. A ballot drop box is located at City Hall, but City Hall is no longer a polling location for Weber County elections. The Municipal General Election will be held on November 7, 2017. Mail-in ballots should arrive three weeks prior to the election date. The ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at the polling location by 8 pm on November 7, 2017. The annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat will be held at Slaterville Park on Tuesday, October 31^\ Set up is at 4:30 pm and treats begin at 6:00 pm. Participants who distribute candy will receive free entry. The entry fee for those with no candy to distribute is $1 per person. Hot dog, chips, cookie and a drink can be had for $3 per person. Costumes and decorated trunks are welcome. Our annual community Pre-Black Friday Boutique will be held on November 17^*^ and IS'*^. Anyone who would like to display and sell gifts, crafts and handmade items is welcome. It will be held at the City offices from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. Admission is free and space is available inside and out. Vendors must bring their own tables, canopies and heater if they display outside. Inside space is 4'x8' and all materials must be free standing. Set up is at 8:00 am. Space reservation can be made by contacting Cecile Morris at (801) 628-2921. Weber Basin Conservancy District will be shutting off the irrigation water around October 1^'. Our city Special District will leave the pressurized secondary water on for residents and businesses until the water supply is exhausted. Various road projects throughout the city were painted and potholes repaired in preparation for winter. City parks will be closed and winterized on October Marriott-Slaterville City does not impose or levy a property tax. Residents with questions about property tax should contact Weber County. |
