Show High School Students to Give Opera Link-Tiffany Members of the music department of the Ogden High school who will take leading roles in the comic opera "The Chimes of Normandy," to be presented in the auditorium of the South Washington Junior High schooI this evening and Saturday evening, under the direction of Glenn Hanson of the high school and Mark Robinson, supervisor of music in the Ogden City schools. TONIGHT and Saturday nights 1 the music department of the Ogden High school will present the comic opera, "The Chimes of Nor¬mandy," in the auditorium of the South Washington junior high school. The production is under the direction of Glenn Hanson of the high school and Mark Robinson, su-perintendent of music of the Ogden city schools. A cast of over 120 students will participate in the presentation. Those having leading roles are: Yvonne Pierce, Maurine Cornia, Kay Moyes, Harriet Robison, Alice Caldwell, Helen Chugg, Marie Louise Dobbs, Imogene Locke, Gilbert Tol hurst, Glen Judd, Raymond Raty, Walker Lowe, Dell Towers, Ivan Burnett, Edward Olsen. The setting for the opera is in Corneville, France. Henri, Marquis of Corneville, who has been in exile since childhood owing to civil war, returns to his ancestral home, the Chateau of Cornville, at the time of the annual fair. Amidst the revelry of such an occasion, Serpolette, the village good-for-nothing, is in com¬pany with the village maidens in¬dulging in idle talk. Gaspard, an old miser, wishes to marry his niece, Germaine to the Bailli. This arrangement disatisfies Germaine and Jean Grenicheux, who claims Germaine is indebted to him because he has saved her from drowning. To escape such a fate as marriage to the Bailli, Germaine hires herself as a servant to Henri. For many years the chateau had been a place of dread as it was said to be haunted by ghosts. Henri de¬termines to find out the character of these ghosts, and on entering the chateau he discovers it is the work of old Gaspard, who has concealed his treasures there. When this se¬cret is revealed and the bells of the chateau which have so long been si¬lent ring out again, Gaspard goes crazy. Some papers, indicating that Serpolette is the lost marchioness, are found in the chateau, Gaspard, however, recovers his mind anil proves Germaine is the heiress. a romantic close is reached with thel reconciliation of all parties and il love duet between Henri and Germaine. Costumes have been imported for each member in the cast, Special scenery has been designed under the supervision of Le Conte Stewart ofl the art department of the hi(h school. The performance on eachl night will begin at 8 o'clock. He served seats may be procured at beI high school or at the auditorium! The general public is invited to tend.
