Day. Recd birthday greetings from Thair from France Victory Hour WASHINGTON, May 11 Historians probably will fix the time at which the European war ended at one minute after midnight, European time, May 8, or four one p.m., mountain war time, May 7. That is the time used so far in war department records and probably will be recorded for the departments historical files. It appears to be, except for one minute, the time used by the Russians. The cease fire order, stipulated in the articles of capitaulation signed by Germany and the allies, became effective at four one p.m., M.W.T. While records here designate the precise time at one minute after midnight, Marshal Stalin, in his recent address announcing victory, referred to the order as being effective at 2400 hours. This would be precisely midnight European time. |
