Show Friday, October 26 Acacia Club met with Mrs H. Aldous Dixon was hostess. 18 members attended. Guests were Mrs E.X. Budge & Mrs Thair C. Rich of Calif. Miss Annis Brown, Mrs. Lydia Tanner & Mrs Jack Shaw. I gave a paper on poetry. This evening Heber & Lucile entertained a wonderful stake dinner at Grey Cliff Cloe her brother, mother & father, Dr & I, Junior, Blanch, Myrene & Douglas. We spent a pleasant evening at the Hancock home after. Oct 29 45 Mrs. Aldous Dixon Hostess to Acacia Mrs. H. Aldous Dixon was hostess to the Acacia club at a luncheon at her home on Friday afternoon. At the meeting which followed the luncheon, Mrs. Edward I. Rich talked on poetry and poets. Her discussion covered rhythm, style, imagery and contents. She quoted various poems to illustrate her points. Eighteen members attended. Sunday, October 28 Dr and I attended Sunday School also Sacrament meeting. We had dinner at Cleones. Called on Dr Baker and took he his sister Mrs Lathrop for a ride. Listened to Apostle Merrills radio talk. Nicholas G. Smith died of heart troubel today he was assistant apostle to the Twelve Apostles a much loved man & has lived a very useful life in church work. Monday, October 29 A beautiful day so I have washed & iorned cloths. Recd a letter saying my aunt Mary Jones now over 80 yr old is very sick with cancar of kidneys. She is very dear to me my mothers youngest full sister. I have visited her several times in Mesa Arizona. Dr has soar hands which worry him China is having revolutionary War 15,000 killed am very thankful Junior is home form there. Wish Thair was home from Europe. |
