Show Friday, November 23 I entertained Acacia Club his afternon. Served lunch at one P.M. Fourteen were present, Cleone and Myrene are now members so they assisted. Mrs Katherine Cooley Duker of Henollu was a guest. Mary Wilson gave a book review The Yankee of Olympus Seven members were absent. Mrs Farley nursed me with one of my Children a fine women & nurse I attended her funeral Mrs. Edward I. Rich Entertains Club 1945 Nov 23 Mrs. Edward I. Rich was hostess to members of the Acacia club at her home Friday afternoon. Luncheon was featured and 22 members attended. Elfrida G. B. Farley Elfrida Gay Barker Farley, 77, who had resided at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Luddington, 1158 Binford street, died Saturday in her compartment aboard the Los Angeles limited while en route to Ogden from Santa Monica, Calif. Mrs. Farley had been visiting in Santa Monica with her son, J. Glen Farley, and son in law, W. Glen Leavett, and their families, since Sept. 6. Born in Ogden She was born in Ogden July 1, 1888, the daughter of James and Mary C. Malan Barker, and she was the widow of Julius A. Farley whom she married Nov. 11, 1886 in the L. D. S. Logan temple. Mr. Farley died in Ogden Sept. 27, 1899. Mrs. Farley had been active in I L.D.S. church work all her life. She was secretary of the Mutual Improvement association of the Mound Fort Ward, president of the Primary association, a Sunday school teacher and secretary of the Relief society at the Seventh ward, and secretary of the Relief society at the Eighth ward. She had been active with the Disabled American Veterans organization, and was chaplain of Camp R, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mrs. Farley had served as a practical nurse in Ogden for 46 years. Survivors Listed Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Mae E. Farley Shaw, Salt Lake City; J. Glen Farley and Mrs. W. Glen Leavett, both of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Charles F. Luddington, Ogden; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, four of whom are in the armed services. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the mortuary at 466 Twenty fourth street. Sunday, November 25 We Enjoy turkey dinner with Dr Junior & family. Attended S.S. in 5 Ward a large adult class. Dr gave a good interesting lesson the last lesson of the year on Christs Apostles. This evening we listened to Apostle Merrill over radio also attended 6th Ward Sacrament meeting to hear Ruben Clark Jr of Church Pres. Snowed some Dr & I called on my sister Lucile for awhile Dr called on Dr Baker Monday, November 26 I was a guest at Ladies Literary Club at Cleone Es home. Margret Pugmire gave a pape on new time savers in past few mo & pre war. A very enjoyable time. A mother of 12 children My dear and only Aunt Mary E. Jones passed away today she was my mothers youngest sister wife of Daniel Jones of Mesa Ariz. She was born at Lehi Utah. Was an early pioneer of Mes Ariz. where she lived all her married life. A faithful L.D.S. member & Temple worker. |
