Sein Section, U.S. Army HUNTING WAS GOOD Ogden Thieves Pluck 25,324 in Cash July 20 1945 TRIBUNE LEASED WIRE OGDEN Frequently appearing complaints concerning lost and stolen wallets and purses, recorded by the Ogden city police department, indicate that during the month of June, 33 purses disappeared in the city containing amounts running as high as 300. Summarized in the monthly uniform crime report, the value of property and cash stolen during June amounted to 25,324.20. Of this sum, represented chiefly by automobiles, a total of 19,788.70 was recovered by the police department. There were 24 cars taken during the month. Of 83 cases of petty larceny, involving amounts of less than 50, 22 were bicycles. Of thefts involving sums greater than 50, there were 14. Labeled by police as a bad month for burglaries, the records show that in July 29 burglaries took place. Listed according to type and valuation, the thefts were named as follows: currency, 2859.12 stolen, 1913.70 recovered; jewelry, 918.85 stolen, 600 recovered; clothing, 1273.50 stolen, $288 recovered; local automobiles, 18,688 stolen, 16,367 recovered; miscellaneous, 1584.73 stolen, 620 recovered.
