Show March 2. Rain and snow. Cold so write letters, play cards, etc. March 3. Duty at Mt. Nueve. American Hospital Corps arrive. March 4. I still do the work of American and French. March 5. Have two badly wounded Americans. Return to section. Division Headquarters burn down. March 6. Clean car. Shave and read letters. March 7. Rumor that we are to move soon. March 8. Work on car. Watch spectacular air battle. French gets Boche. March 9. Boche on to Paris. Not much sleep. March 10. Set clock ahead. Have to go to Aux les Beurs for permission. Cohen, French Lieut leaves. Get a new one. March 11. Word has come that we go on repoe tomorrow. Love and Murphy have Wolfe, Boche avion ace who gets shot down. March 12. Move to Septmont. Help old lady in garden. Have omelet and cider at her house. Big night in cafe. Corcoran sprains hip. Evacuated. Sent to Droizy to join troops. 118 regular infantry. Don Miller. Sleep in place. Start 5 am. No breakfast. Section moves to Lizy sur Ourcq. Regular not very tired only 2 malades. March 16. Catch up with section at Lizy. March 17. Fishing with Crawford and then take in town. Have lunch at cafe. March 18. Sent with 19 Genie right at Nell. Old men mostly Territorials. (Volunteer reserve force). March 19. Arrive Langy. Wash, oil and grease car. Lunch at cafe. Need money to go on permission in morning. Crawford says can get for me in Paris. Pack things up. March 20. Leave Langy at 745 am. Have breakfast at Continental Hotel. Avions break up subway so try for taxi which are sure in demand. Have to pay double fare. Luncheon Chinese Umbrella. |
