Show PROJECT MANPOWER SUMARY Each of the more than 22,000 individuals employed on the Toquepala, project at some time during the full course of construction fall in one of three categories for purposes of general classification: Expatriate, Empleado, and Obrero. The expatriate classification applies to all personnel who, signed to foreign employment contracts in the U.S., served all departments of the project is wholly supervisory capacities. The empleado classification applies to all salaried Peruvian nationals employed and to non-Peruvians contracted for employment who were already in Peru. The obrero classification applies to all national workers employed by the day. EXPATRIATE PERSONEL Peak employment of 360 expatriate personnel was reached in June. 1958. A total number of 654 expatriate contracts were signed; thus, the average turnover amounted to approximately 1.9% of the peak employment per calendar month duration of the project. Of the total expatriates contracted, 241 were single status and 413 were married, or family status contracts. Contract lengths varied with the individual classification and project requirement, predominantly being for a period of 24 months, with some for 12 months and a few for project duration. Final disposition of all expatriate contracts is as follows*.
