Go to Remermont to buy food for section with Lieut. Brady. August 14. Inspection of cars and bath at St. Amarin. August 15. Birthday. Little party. August 16. Go to Belfort. See forts of famous lion. Get pay and parts. Lieut. Parsons in charge. Motorcycles arrive. August 17. Nothing of importance. August 18. Same. August 19. Same. August 20. Go to dentist at Kruit. Dinner with Lieut. August 21. Just plain duty and dentist. August 22. Dentist all morning. Letters and poker. August 23. Dinner with Lieut. Capt. Petit, French G.B.S. August 24. Office work. Dentist. Walked to St. Amarin with Lieut. Bath in afternoon. August 25. Visit from Major Andrews. Lieut. says he recommended me for officer school. August 26. Marshall de Logil to leave us. (Fine fellow) Rumors of moving. 11 months today out of port. August 27. Nothing but routine. August 28. Posed for pictures for Hale. Marshall gives us champagne dinner. August 29. Packing bureau and getting ready to go to park. August 30. Go to Belfort to get parts. Have dinner with Capt. Bingham, my Lieut of 18, Lieut Richmond, my Lieut of 30, French Capt. Marshall and Beebe. Love and Gyp go to Belfort with wounded colonel. August 31. Packing to move. September 1. Up at 600 am and 800 am arrived at Donmatin. Played baseball in afternoon. September 2. Left Donmatin at Noon. Arrived at Roupex in evening. Slept in cars. September 3. Up at 500 am and 600 a.m. 180 K. Lunch at St. Dizier and Brusson at 500 pm. September 4. Cleaned up cars. Took swim in canal in afternoon. Beer. September 5. Fishing. Baseball. Went to Vitryeu Francois, Coman. myself. September 6. Cleaned up park. Baseball, Fished in evening. September 7-8. Evacuated troops. September 9. Big goose dinner and hot cakes. September 10. Rain. Pancakes for breakfast. September 11. Rain. Pancakes in evening. September 12. Rain. No pancakes. |
