Many professors communicate with their students by e-mail, so it is important for students to activate their accounts early on. Students must also activate their Wildcat account prior to online registration. This can be done via the Computing Support Services Web site at weber.edu/eservices (visit any of the computer labs listed on the next page to access the Internet). Student ID (WILDCARD) Telephone: 801-626-6367 Location: Shepherd Union Lobby Information Center Hours: Mon - Thurs 7:30 a.m. - 8:30p.m.; Fri 7:30 a.m. - 5:30p.m. Sat - 8:30 a.m. - 5:30p.m. You need a WILDCARD because it: • is your library card • allows you use of the physical education facilities • gives you free admittance into athletic events and discounts to select club events • is used for meal plans and flex accounts with dining services • allows you to print in the computer labs • gives you access to campus health facilities • is your I.D. to be used at the testing center and to get transcripts printed The WILDCARD is available for students and their dependents and spouse. There is a $10.00 fee for each new card. Dependents and spouses of students also pay an additional activation fee per semester. See weber. edu/wildcard for more information. Annex 5, phone 801-626-6533 Environmental Health & Safety: Annex 5, phone 801-626-7547 The Department of Public Safely consists of Police, Parking Services, Fire and Environmental Health and Safety. • The Police Department is concerned with providing a safe and secure environment for students, personnel and campus visitors, and with protecting university facilities. • Parking Services is responsible for regulating traffic, parking and related campus matters. • Fire Services is responsible for fire protection and code compli ance. • Environmental Health and Safely is concerned with promot ing the health and safety of the campus community and with protecting the environment. Academic Support Services Academic Support Centers & Programs Main Telephone: 801-626-6870 Web Site: Academic Support Centers and Programs (ASSP) offers an array of peer tutoring services designed to meet the individual needs of WSU students. Tutoring focus is on developmental and general education courses. Peer tutors are certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). ASSP strives to assist WSU students reach their academic goals by helping them become strong, independent learners. Math Tutoring Lab ■ Student Service Center, room 164 • Students can do homework and receive assistance as needed • Peer tutoring on drop-in basis • Focus on Math 1010, 1030,1040, 1050 and other math help depending on tutor availability Science Learning Center ■ Science Building, room 228 • Peer tutoring by appointment and on drop-in basis • Science subjects including astronomy, chemistry, microbiology, physics and zoology Developmental English/Math Learning Center -Annex 12 (across the street from the Social Science building) • Peer tutoring on drop-in basis • Focus on English 0960 and Math 0950, 0960 and 0955 • 20 computers available for student use Social Science Learning Center ■ Social Science, room 036 • Peer tutoring by appointment and on drop-in basis • Subjects include French, German, Japanese, Spanish and psychology Tutoring Services ■ Student Service Center, room 160 • One-on-one peer tutoring by appointment • Wide array of tutoring focusing on developmental math, English and general education courses Writing Center ■ Student Service Center, room 261 • Peer tutoring on drop-in basis for any writing project • Peer tutors assist students at any stage in the writing process • Peer tutors do not proofread or edit student work Online Tutoring • Peer tutoring in math and English • Designed to provide convenient, effective tutoring at a distance • For on-campus courses as well as online and distance courses • Coordinated by Writing Center and Math Lab coordinators Open Student Computer Labs Telephone: 801-626-741S Web Site: Student Affairs Technology manages WSU's ten open student computer labs. These computer labs are meant to serve the general needs of any WSU student. Lab hours vary from lab to lab, but overall lab hours range from 6:30 a.m. -12 p.m., and some labs are open seven days a week.
