Show STUDENT TO STUDENT OUTREACH Telephone: 801-626-7027 Location: Wasatch Room 101 SW Since 2003, this program has been a pipeline partnership between Ogden City School District (OCSD) and Weber State University serving two 5th grade classes at C.H. Taylor Elementary, an 8th grade class at Mt. Ogden Middle School, and a 9th grade class at Ogden High School. Student mentors from the university go to selected classrooms to present a college preparatory curriculum, tutor and coordinate university campus visits and two other social activities on campus for participants and their families. A total of 600 students have been served by the Student-to-Student Outreach Partnership through June of 2006. An advisory committee consisting of OCSD administrators, teachers and Weber State University administrators and personnel meet monthly to discuss the program's needs and activities. The program's focus is college readiness, academic support and parental involvement. About Veterans Upward Bound Support Services • Funded by a federal grant to help veterans from Davis, Weber and Salt Lake counties • Targets low income, first generation or disabled college-bound veterans • Designed to increase the number of veterans who enter and graduate from college • Outreach centers located in Davis, Weber and Salt Lake counties • Coordinates with all campus services and activities for services for veteran students Academic Skills Development, Advisement & Assistance • Short-term remedial courses and/or one-on-one assistance at Weber State University and Salt Lake Community College: Redwood Road Campus and South Campus • Admissions, financial aid and career advisement • Assistance in securing support from available resources such as the Veterans Administration, veterans associations and various state and local agencies serving veterans Upward Bound Telephone: 801-626-6798 Location: Annex 10 Web Site: About Upward Bound Program • Funded by federal grants to help low-income/first generation high school students from Davis and Weber counties prepare for higher education • Designed to provide a pre-college educational experience for selected high school students in Davis and Weber Counties • Students must meet the federal guidelines set by the Department of Education in order to participate • Serve approximately 75 students annually from five area high schools: Ben Lomond, Ogden, Clearfield, Layton and Northridge • Program purpose is to increase the number of non-traditional students who enter and graduate from college 27 Academic Year Programming • Tutorial instruction in literature, composition, foreign languages, mathematics, history, computer enhancement training and general science courses in an after school setting at the five target high schools • Saturday morning study hall • Individual counseling for students with personal or academic concerns • Monthly social, cultural and recreational activities • ACT preparation Six-Week Summer Residential Program • Upward Bound offers a summer academic enhancement program held on the campus of Weber State University • Students live in the residence halls, attend enrichment classes and participate in social, cultural and recreational activities Testing Center Telephone: 801-626-6803 Web Site: weber.edu/testingci Locations and Hours: Student Services.
