Each student who is admitted into the program meets with an advisor. Together the student and the advisor explore the student's academic needs and the resources available to develop an individualized system of support. • Services limited to 285 qualified students per year who meet one or more of the following criteria: ° Demonstrated financial need ° First generation college student ° Disabled students (physical or learning disability) • Peer tutoring by appointment, upper- as well as lower-division courses • Financial aid supplement • Textbook loan program • Workshops including math competency, speed reading and study skills Supplemental Instruction Telephone: 801-626-7847 Location: Student Services, Suite 160 Web Site: Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides opportunities for students to participate in learning teams where they explore concepts and solve problems through group discussion and interaction as directed by a student team leader who has successfully completed the course. SI student leaders work in collaboration with course professor and SI coordinator. • Targets traditionally difficult courses • A nationally recognized and certified program • Volunteer group study sessions available in all disciplines • Peer leaders have completed the course with an A or A- • Courses with SI sessions are designated in semester schedule EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH . Funded at $220,000 per year for 5 years, this grant serves 600 middle school and high school students per year (7th-12th grade students from Central Middle School, Mt. Ogden Middle School, Ogden High School and Ben Lomond High School). Services include college-preparatory workshops, advising, visits to college campuses, college information and referrals for parents, and tutoring/mentoring services.
